Where did we meet?
The first day we met, we had a picnic at Venice State Beach in Half Moon Bay and the rest was history!
Where/how did Aimun propose?
At the same beach where we met!
What's our favorite thing to do together?
Cooking yummy vegetarian food and watching a show or movie!
What are some of the challenges you've faced together?
We've always been so physically far apart! When we met, we lived 40 miles apart, which meant an hour drive or a two-hour train journey to see each other. A year later, we currently live 370 miles apart. We're constantly updating each other on our days and calling each other to catch up on long commutes.
What new experiences have you introduced to each other's lives?
Aimun introduced Nishat to the world of rock climbing, and in return, Nishat immersed Aimun in the musical worlds of Taylor Swift and Harry Styles. Aimun has adopted a (somewhat) regular sunscreen routine, while Nishat has triumphantly completed her first few anime series!
How do you make each other laugh?
Aimun: "Good jokes"
Nishat: "Bad jokes"
What's next for us?
Nishat is currently finishing up rotation for pharmacy school, which is the last requirement for her to get her doctorate. Aimun will move down to Orange County with her until she graduates in May. After that, our future plans depend on where Nishat matches for residency. Stay tuned!
Wedding Events
Reception
A fun reception with friends the day of the ceremony! The Hacienda has complimentary parking on the side of the venue. After parking, please walk to the sidewalk and enter from the front gates of the venue. Staff will be present to guide you as needed.
Walima
The walima (Arabic for assembly) is a big traditional reception hosted in Aimun's hometown! There is plenty of uncovered parking by the Hilton, so there's no need to pay for the garage. Please enter from the front or side entrance and head to the Prairie Ballroom.
FAQ
What is the dress code?
Formal attire. South Asian formal attire (shalwar kameez, sari, lehenga, etc.) strongly encouraged but not required! If you don't have anything like this, we are more than happy to help you find something! The following cities have many desi clothing stores: Fremont (SJ), Artesia (LA), Plano (TX).
Where should I fly?
For guests coming straight to the reception, we recommend flying into John Wayne Airport (SNA), which is 10 miles away from the reception. Long Beach Airport (LGB) is 25 miles away from Santa Ana, and LAX is 40 miles, but they are doable if you get a better price at one of these airports. San Diego International Airport (SAN) is 90 miles away.
For the walima in Plano, both DFW and Lovefield (DAL) are roughly the same distance from the venue.
When is the RSVP deadline?
Please RSVP by October 1st! If you need more time than this, please let Aimun or Nishat know.

Ayres Hotel Costa Mesa/Newport Beach - $139 for 1 king or 2 queen room, $159 for 2 queen suite - mention Group Code 15162 or Aimun & Nishat's Wedding! Really close to John Wayne airport (1 mile), and there's free a shuttle to/from the airport.
For Dallas, we recommend people stay at the Hilton where the walima is happening. Group code here, you may be able to find this same hotel cheaper than the rate they gave us via Priceline.
